Privacy Notice - PeproTech, Inc.

PeproTech, Inc. and our subsidiaries¹ is committed to being a responsible custodian of the personal information that we collect in the course of operating our business. 

This Privacy Notice (“Notice”) describes how we collect, use, share, or otherwise process personal information in the course of operating our business, including the operation of our website https://www.peprotech.com and any other applications that link to this Privacy Policy (our “Online services”).

“Personal information” as used in this Notice means information that identifies, relates to, describes, or can reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, to a specific natural person. It does not include information that is considered anonymous, de-identified, or aggregated by applicable law.

1. The Information We Collect

The types of personal information we collect about you depend on your interactions with us and are described below.

Depending on the context of your interactions with us, the categories of personal information we may collect from you include:

1. Unique Identifiers that we can use to identify you as a unique individual, such as your name, postal address, unique personal identifier, online identifier, Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, email address, account name, or other similar identifiers.
2. Demographic Information, which may include characteristics protected by law, such as your gender or age.
3. Commercial Information, such as your purchase history or products you have expressed interest in.
4. Internet or other Electronic Network Activity Information, such as the data we receive when you interact with our website
5. Geolocation Information, such as your city, state or province, and country. When you access the online services, we may collect precise geolocation information if you permit the online services to access such information so that we may provide you with content based on your location and your proximity to our offices.
6. Audio and Visual Information, such as your voice and likeness as captured in photographs, video, or audio recordings if you attend our events, visit our offices, or leave us a voicemail.
7. Professional or employment-related information, such as your employer or title;
8. Education information, such as the university you attended and degree; and
9. Inferences drawn from the above categories.
10. Any other information you choose to provide.

Information You Provide to Us:

We collect personal information that you provide to us. For example, when you become a registered user, we collect your name, mailing address, email address, and password.  When you order a product, we may collect, in addition to your required registration information, a credit card number along with the corresponding expiration date and billing address.  When you use an order form to request reference or promotional publications, we collect your name, mailing address, email address, and phone number.  When you use the "Technical Investigation" form, we collect your name, mailing address, telephone number, fax number, and email address.  When you contact us by using the Send a Message form, we collect your name and email address.

You generally can use our online services without providing us with personal information, though we may still collect personal information automatically as described in the next section. 

Information We May Collect Automatically or Generate

We and our service providers may automatically collect and generate certain technical information from and about you when you interact with us or our Online services.  This information may include your IP address, your general geographic location, your browser type, your operating system, the pages you view on the Services, the pages you view immediately before and after you access the Services, and the search terms you enter on the Services. This information allows us to recognize you and personalize your experience if you return to the Services, and to improve the Services. We and our service providers may collect this information using “cookies,” which are small text files that the Services save on your computer using your web browser and access when you return.  We do not currently respond to “Do Not Track” signals. 

Information We Collect From Other Sources

We may obtain personal information from other sources, such as our employees or business partners, or from business contact databases and enrichment services. We may also receive information about you from social media platforms, such as when you interact with us on those platforms or access our social media content. We may collect information about you from publicly available sources, such as public social media profiles, publications, and other websites or materials available through search engines.

2. Use of the Information We Collect

We may use the information we collect for various purposes, including:

1. To process orders, ship purchases, bill purchases, and contact customers (when necessary) to process such orders.
2. To manage your online account(s) with our online services and send you technical notices, updates, security alerts, and other administrative messages.
3. To operate, troubleshoot, and improve our online services.
4. To respond to your questions or requests for information.
5. To expand and maintain our list of contacts.
6. To send you promotional and reference materials, company and industry updates, and other information or materials that may interest you.
7. To understand how people use our products, including by generating and analyzing statistics.
8. To detect, prevent, and respond to actual or potential fraud, illegal activities, or intellectual property infringement.
9. As we believe reasonably necessary or appropriate to comply with our legal obligations, to respond to legal process or requests for information issued by government authorities or other third parties, or to protect your, our, or others’ rights.
10. PeproTech may use anonymous, de-identified, or aggregate information that does not reasonably identify you for any purpose, as permitted by applicable law.

3. Sharing the Information We Collect

PeproTech does not sell, rent, lease, or otherwise provide the information we collect to unaffiliated third parties. We also do not share personal information that reasonably identifies you with unaffiliated entities for their independent use except when we have your permission; or are doing so at your direction, as needed to comply with our legal obligations, as permitted by applicable law, or as otherwise described in this Notice.

We may disclose the categories of information we collect to the following categories of recipients in furtherance of the purposes described above:

1. Our affiliates: We may share information with our various PeproTech offices and Partners located around the world for any of the purposes listed above.
2. Our service providers: We may share information with third parties that perform services on our behalf, such as web-hosting companies, mailing vendors, analytics providers, event hosting services, and information technology providers.
3. Law enforcement, government authorities, or third parties with legal rights: We may share information as may be permitted or required by the laws of any jurisdiction that may apply to us, as provided for under contract, or as we deem reasonably necessary. In these circumstances, we strive to take reasonable efforts to notify you before we disclose information that may reasonably identify you or your organization, unless prior notice is prohibited by applicable law or is not possible or reasonable in the circumstances.
4. Parties in connection with a business transaction: We may share information with service providers, advisors, potential transactional partners, or other third parties in connection with the consideration, negotiation, or completion of a transaction in which we are acquired by or merged with another company or we sell, liquidate, or transfer all or a portion of our assets, as well as any bankruptcy or corporate reorganization.
5. Others with your consent or at your direction, including if we notify you that your information may be shared and you provide such information or if you use PeproTech to interact with a third party. For example, we may share your name and contact information with a business partner who co-sponsors an event you attend or publication you sign up for or with a social media service if you share or like our content.

We may share anonymous, de-identified, or aggregate information that cannot reasonably identify you with others for any purpose, as permitted by applicable law. Please note that any personal information that you post to a profile, blog, comment section, or forum on our online services or social media pages may be available to other users of those forums or, in some cases, made publicly available.

4. Protection and Storage of the Information We Collect

We implement commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the information we collect and comply with applicable legal requirements. This implementation includes the use of industry standard encryption to protect your payment and personal information for commerce transactions.  Our practices also include, when required or appropriate and feasible, obtaining written assurances from our third parties that may access your personal information that they will protect your information with safeguards designed to provide a level of protection equivalent to those implemented by PeproTech.

Notwithstanding the safeguards that we implement, no information system can be perfectly secure and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information.  Further, we are not responsible for safeguarding the information you transmit to us over networks that we do not control (e.g., wireless networks, the internet).

5. Your Choices and Rights

Marketing Communications: If you no longer wish to receive marketing communications from us, you can let us know by contacting us using the information available in the How to Contact Us section below. Our digital marketing communications may provide unsubscribe or opt-out mechanisms that allow you to modify your communications preferences. Please note that if you opt-out of marketing communications, we may still contact you with non-promotional communications, such as those about ongoing business relations or administrative messages.

Privacy Rights: PeproTech conducts business in jurisdictions that impose varying obligations and that grant individuals differing levels of protection, particularly with respect to personal information. Depending on applicable law, you may have certain rights with respect to your personal information, including, for example, the rights to:

1.       Request access to certain personal information of yours that we process.
2.       Update or correct your personal information if you believe it is incomplete or inaccurate.
3.       Erase or delete your personal information, subject to certain exceptions under local law.
4.       Object to our processing of your personal information or otherwise restrict our processing activities.
5.       Restrict certain transfers of your personal information to third parties.
6.       Withdraw your consent to processing, where we base our processing of your personal information on consent.
7.       Not be denied goods or services for exercising your rights under applicable law.
8.       Complain to your local supervisory authority.

California law requires that a business provide in its privacy policy a list of the categories of personal information it has in the preceding 12 months (1) disclosed for a business purpose, and (2) disclosed in exchange for valuable consideration (considered a “sale” under California law, even if no money is exchanged), as well as the categories of third parties to whom each category of personal information was disclosed or sold.

PeproTech does not sell, rent, lease, or otherwise provide the information we collect to unaffiliated third parties.  In regards to disclosure of personal information

California residents can also submit requests toll-free by calling 800-436-9910 x 3143 and indicating they wish to submit a California Consumer Privacy Act rights request to PeproTech.

7. Changes to this Privacy Notice

We may update this Notice periodically, and will revise the date at the top of this Notice to reflect the date when such update occurs. If we make any material changes in the way we collect, use, and/or share the personal information that you have provided, we will endeavor to provide you with notice before such changes take effect, such as by posting prominent notice on the PeproTech website at www.peprotech.com. You can additionally email us to request a copy of the notice or any other information at [email protected].
