Recombinant Human TNF-α

TNF-α is a pleiotropic pro-inflammatory cytokine secreted by various cells, including adipocytes, activated monocytes, macrophages, B cells, T cells and fibroblasts. It belongs to the TNF family of ligands, and signals through two receptors, TNFR1 and TNFR2. TNF-α is cytotoxic to a wide variety of tumor cells, and is an essential factor in mediating the immune response against bacterial infections. TNF-α also plays a role in the induction of septic shock, autoimmune diseases, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammation, and diabetes. Human and murine TNF-α demonstrate significant cross-species reactivity. TNF-α exists in two forms; a type II transmembrane protein, and a mature soluble protein. The TNF-α transmembrane protein is proteolitically cleaved to yield a soluble, biologically active, 17 kDa TNF-α, which forms a non-covalently linked homotrimer in solution. Recombinant Human TNF-α is a soluble 157 amino acid protein (17.4 kDa) which corresponds to C-terminal extracellular domain of the full length transmembrane protein.

Great recombinant protein from peprotech
We use this recombinant TNFa in one of our assays and it has performed extremely well/consistent over the years. I would definitely recommend this product to people who are interested.

Reliable TNF both for human and mouse
Using this item for over 12 years.
Always gives consistent results.
Note- very sensitive to freezing and thawing.
We keep it in 100ug/ml, 10ul aliquotes for use and minimize repeated freeze/thaw of the vial.
Works well at 10 ng/ml - 100 ng/ml to study inflammatory gene expression.

in vitro probiotic properties assay
We routinely use recombinant human TNF-α in co-incubation with HT29 cells to characterization in vitro of anti-inflammatory probiotic properties of potential candidate strains used IL-8 as readout. This product as Prepothec indicates is sensitive to thawed cycles, I recommend prepare aliquots (100ng/ul).

Easy to reconstitute and store for long-term usage
This is useful in some of our inflammation and fibrosis studies. It has a decent shelf like in -20C of few months and gets used well before then. Recommendation is to make aliquots of 50-100 ul of 10 ug/ml stocks.
